A bespoke commission in collaboration with Demellier London to create a painting for their flagship London home space designed by Nicolas Schuybroek Architects.

INTEGRITY is a special commission for DeMellier, conceived through a collaborative idea with founder Mireia Llusia-Lindh and created for the brand’s London flagship store, within its striking architectural interior by Nicolas Schuybroek Architects.
At the heart of this collaboration lies a shared appreciation of craftsmanship, authenticity and the enduring value of the handmade.
For INTEGRITY, rich mineral reds, deep carmine and caput mortuum—a pigment with earthy, reddish-brown undertones—were gradually brought together to create an immersive burgundy of extraordinary depth and a weighty intensity. Beeswax enriches the surface, while successive layers of pigment and gesso bind to form a tactile skin, holding subtle tonal shifts and traces of the making.
Working with natural materials requires both precision and a willingness to relinquish control. As the surface dries, it responds to heat, touch and time, developing its own character. Fissures emerge, delicate variations appear, and unexpected nuances reveal themselves. Each mark is unrepeatable, recording a moment in the life of the material.
These irregularities are not imperfections to be concealed, but an essential part of the work’s identity. They speak of fragility and resilience, of the tension between intention and chance, and of a beauty that cannot be entirely prescribed.
As in DeMellier’s approach to design, I believe that considered artistry resides in the details: in the integrity of the materials, the restraint of the process and the quiet eloquence of a carefully made object. INTEGRITY brings these shared values together in a meeting of colour, material and philosophy, where the story of the making remains present in the finished work.
A colour with a life. A surface with a history. Beauty in imperfection.
